5.3.14: Slagel Family Farm Tour and Dinner Event
It’s hard to believe that a year has already passed since our last event with Slagel Family Farm, but here we are again! We and our friends at Slagel are excited to announce the Tour & Dinner event featuring Chef Paul Virant on Saturday, May 3!
The afternoon will begin with a butchering demo at Slagel Family Meats (about 5 miles from the farm), where we will demonstrate how to butcher beef, pork or lamb into retail cuts. We will then go back to the farm and LouisJohn will be giving a tour of his livestock farm. Guests will see a variety of livestock and learn about the old-fashioned production practices the Slagels use to raise their animals.
A family-style dinner will then follow in the new barn right next to the livestock pastures. The meal will be prepared and served by Chef Paul Virant. Please BYOB; lemonade and water will be provided.
Bus transportation from Chicago is available. When purchasing your ticket please select if you would like that option. The bus will pick everyone up at Perennial Virant, 1800 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago, IL 60614 at 12:00 noon on May 3. Children are welcome as long as they have parent supervision.
Cost of the event is $125 for adults, $50 for kids (ages 6-15).
